I’m surrounded by photographers. Skilled, articulate, quirky, film, digital, wet-plate. Which leaves me a bit self-conscious sometimes about this blog. I’ve heard more than once that the quality of photos here is -umm- pretty low. Fair comment, I’m not much of a photographer and I’m usually oblivious to the poor quality of my photos.
Our friend, artist, photographer, and administrative force-to-be-reckoned-with, Cheryl-Ann has been particularly vocal lately about the need for me to up my photographic game. So last weekend we took the recently-finished Chair No. 12 over for a visit, tea, and a proper photo shoot. Good lighting, backdrop, editing by people who know what they’re doing!
The excellent pictures of Chair No 12 are the result of that photo session.
Cheryl-Ann and husband Behan are also owners of a couple of my pieces (plus a very cool couch that Kim worked on a few years back). It just made sense to photograph their chair along with the new one.
But the best part was when River stepped in for her time to shine. And for the record, I took that photo. I know Cheryl-Ann thinks the backdrop is all wrong: wrinkles, too much light etc. But just look at those beautiful puppy eyes! I’m sticking with my photo.
